beaches, medieval villages and nature
Tenuta Padre Pio is immersed in the olive groves surrounding Vieste, in the heart of the National Park of Gargano.
Vieste is little city with a mediaval villagem with a typical Apulian and Mediterranean structure with narrow lanes and white houses.
Numerous beaches, almost all with low and sandy bottom, suitable for children, just a few miles from Tenuta Padre Pio.
Nearby are the village of Peschici and the beautiful Foresta Umbra, as well as the places of worship of San Giovanni Rotondo and Monte Sant’Angelo.

Fantastic Stay
Stayed at the Residence Padre Pio for three nights and was really great. Staff were really helpful, lovely surroundings, very good food, beautiful swimming pool and great accommodation. Given we were given a two bedroom little villa with kitchen, bbq and lovely terrace, the price represented amazing value. You have the option of eating at the restaurant on site which serves very good Italian food although would be a shame to no also eat in atmospheric Vieste for some meals.

Warm family, beautiful area
From the arrival till the departure, the team of Residence Padre Pio is always helpfull, kind and gives you the feeling you are welcome. We just got back and had a great two-weeks. Nice bungalow, very good food. Since we are Dutch, and not many Italian people speak English in this area, the communication was sometimes a bit difficult. But with some basic knowledge of the Italian language (we’ve been 6 times in Italy before), the help of an app on the iphone and the patience of the kind people (especially mama Maria, Pierro and Donatella). A (rental)car is nessecary to see something of the environment. Must see: Vieste, Forrest Umbria (even in the hot summer very cool), the Tremitiy Islands, and what our kids loved most: rent a boat (70 euro, gas excluded – approx 40 euro for a day). Don’t forget to go snorkling! And thanks to our hobby geocaching we visited some nice non-touristic areas. Dear people of Residence Padre Pio: gracie mille!

Lovely, quiet spot
We stayed here for one night in late September and wished we had been here in the summer. It would be a great family vacation spot when it’s hot. They’ve got a lovely pool, all the cabins have bbqs, and there is a bike shop, but that seemed closed for the season. Would be fun to explore this area on bikes. We ate dinner at their restaurant. Kitchen has glass walls so you can watch them cook! Homemade pasta with mussels, clams, tomato and basil. Grilled swordfish and fat squids. A nice local white wine. And for dessert a tart with lemony custard and almonds. (Ask about dinner prices if you don’t want to be surprised. The rooms are a deal though.) The stone cabins are lovely, with sunny outdoor patios where you can enjoy your morning coffee and pastries, and make friends with the resident cats who are very sweet and playful.
